Golf in East Lothian

The first open champion came from Musselburgh where the open championship was first played in the East of Scotland with Prestwick being the west Coast Course. The rules of Golf were written by the Gentlemen Golfers of Edinburgh, who  became The Honourable Company of Edinburgh Golfers, who first played at Bruntsfield links Edinburgh then Leith Links then Musselburgh Links and finally Muirfield Links Gullane where they are today.
